Welcome

to the civil war monument website which was originally set up in 2000 as a tool to keep the interested public informed regarding the Restoration Project of the Kent County Civil War Monument located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In 2003, that restoration was completed and this website now serves to provide information on various monuments, memorials and projects, mainly in Kent County, Michigan, but in other areas as well.

This web site exists to give honor and to preserve the memory of the “boys who wore the blue” serving in the Union army during the American Civil War (1861-1865) and to the men and women of all wars who have served our country in all wars. May we always remember their sacrifices for the freedoms we enjoy today.
